Adventure Starts in the Air
At Lava Creek Lodge, we offer unforgettable fly-out fishing adventures using our fleet of three aircraft—two wheel planes and one floatplane—all based right at the lodge. Whether it’s landing on gravel bars, remote airstrips, or pristine alpine lakes, we use the aircraft to get you to the fish others can’t reach.
Most fly-out destinations are within 20 minutes of the lodge, allowing more time fishing and less time flying. Some locations are walk-and-wade, while others have boats staged and ready for your arrival. Here are a few of our favorite fly-out fisheries:
Wind River
(King Salmon Paradise – Exclusive Access)
Located about 30 miles from the lodge, Wind River is a premier destination during King Salmon season. We fly into a small lake, take a short walk to a boat, and start the day swinging flies through classic runs. Lava Creek Lodge holds exclusive access to the lower portion of this river, offering a truly private and productive King fishing experience.
Coho Creek
(Wogging for Silvers Close to Home)
Just a quick 5-minute flight from the lodge, Coho Creek is part of the same drainage as our home river. With a boat stationed here, you’ll explore some of the best “wogging” water for Silver Salmon in the region. While the fish may run slightly smaller, the numbers, setting, and water clarity make this spot a favorite among our guests.
Lava Creek
(Spring Creek Walk & Wade )
Only 10 minutes by wheel plane, Lava Creek offers world-class walk-and-wade fishing across three designated beats. This spring-fed creek is the main spawning ground for Sockeye Salmon in the area—drawing in hungry Rainbows and Dolly Varden. At times, it even offers excellent dry fly and mouse fishing. If you love stalking wild trout in gin-clear water, Lava Creek is a must.
Fly farther. Fish deeper. Catch more.
Ready to take to the skies? Every day at Lava Creek Lodge is a new adventure—guided by experience, fueled by passion, and elevated by the flight.
